University and College Students - IF YOU ARE ILL

During the time you spend at college or university you may experience an episode of illness. This may impact on your ability to attend lectures, exams, tutorials or completing some of your course work.

If you are unwell you should complete a Notification of Illness Form to give to your tutor so your tutor is aware of your difficulties.  Download College/University Sickness Form Here

If your tutor requires further confirmation of your difficulties he or she and you need to complete a Request for Evidence (Sickness Form Part B). This should be delivered to the person you have seen regarding your difficulties e.g. student counsellor, nurse or doctor.

Sick lines for work (form Med 3) is only applicable for illness preventing employment and for Statutory sick pay purposes, and do not apply to illness during study.

There will be a fee for providing written evidence of illness from your General Practitioner, of which reception staff can inform you.

Extended opening hours.

We offer extended opening hours. These appointments are provided to help those that may find visiting the doctor about routine medical issues difficult during our normal opening hours. Please speak to our reception team to find out about availability.

Please be aware that they are pre-booked appointments only, and access to nursing services (such as blood taking ECGs etc) are not currently available as part of our extended hours service, and you may need to book a separate appointment to arrange such investigations.

Get yourself fit without the expense of gyms

Doing at least 30 minutes a day of moderate-intensity activity, at least three to five times a week, will boost your general health.

This level of activity is enough to reduce your risk of developing major chronic diseases, such as coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and even early death. Exercise will also enhance your overall wellbeing.
